Dear Supporters, it’s been a tremendous year for YPG – here is our festive update…
An exceptional night of entertainment and fundraising was enjoyed by 220 guests at the inaugural Sydney Charles Group Charitable Foundation Ball, held at the St. Pierre Park Hotel in early November. We are so grateful to Philip Lepp and the Sydney Charles team who organised a magnificent evening, and to all the guests who helped to raise in excess of £55,000 for YPG.
As you can imagine, this makes a significant contribution to our fundraising for next year’s costs and we are sincerely grateful to the company for all they have achieved for us.
New entrance at The Hub
As a result of generous donations from Stuart Hardie and the JOG to LE team, Barclays Champion Charities Initiative and the Guernsey Community Foundation Quarterly Grants programme, we have sufficient funding to change the location of the entrance at The Hub. We are going to move the entrance to the gable end of the building away from busy traffic (and a very narrow stretch of pavement), thus allowing a much safer and rather more discreet entrance to the Centre. In addition, we are putting in a ramp and railings so that there is full access for wheelchairs, buggies etc. The building work for the project will start early in 2013 and we are extremely grateful to those donors who have made this change possible, and also to Rihoys who have agreed to do the work on a non-profit basis.
We need more VOLUNTEERS at The Hub…please help us find them
Our first six listening Volunteers have now completed their training and are already making a difference to the lives of the young people accessing the Barnardo’s service at The Hub.
However, we have more children seeking help and support as each week passes, and so we should like to train up our next group of Volunteers as soon as possible.
Please find attached a poster with more details: please can you circulate this around your organisation and also print copies out for any relevant noticeboards.
The Hub is already supporting some very vulnerable young people and we want to ensure that we can provide the help they need, whenever they need it.
2012 has been a remarkable year for us: your generosity and support means that YPG and Barnardo’s are helping young people have a different future.
We are hugely grateful for all of your support and wish you all a wonderful Christmas and 2013.
